I’ve owned this mower since 2010. It’s not sounding the same. I’m thinking the gearbox needs rebuild. I has about 1/8 vertical play between the pulley and the gearbox. Problem is the gearbox is serial specific and the serial label has worn off the deck. Trying to get info from the dealers sticker on the tractor and using its serial number. But if that doesn’t work does anyone have any ideas how to figure this out? Also, does anyone know the torque for the top nut on the outer pulleys? Thanks.

Check with the parts department for a cut-off date for the gearbox production change. Usually, where there is a serial number cut off, there is a date associated with the production change that affects the parts involved. You might find a stamped number on the case somewhere, so clean it well and then examine it with an LED flashlight.

Kubota does not mark parts, not with a part number, not with a serial number, not with a date.
There is little you can do to match a part to a serial number.

Kubota typically will make newer parts still fit older cases (backwards compatible).
You can also try to use kubota prints to find out which setup you have if parts have changed it might show up on there.

Here is how you can tell which case you have:
The drain plug changes sides.

You’re right, I did a parts comparison and found on the prints that I have the older type. The older type has a cap on the side of the gearbox which the newer type does not. Many parts have been converted over to new part numbers. Thanks for your responses.
