I recall the L3901 HST tractors having many problems with the emissions systems/regens for this vintage and model. Particularly in cold climates, regen failures, and dealerships cannot repair effectively.

I wouldn't personally have any interest in this machine, but a coworker bought a new to them house,
and available with the house as an additional purchase, is a 2016 L3901 HST tractor with about 200 hours on the meter. It's got a loader, and comes with a 5' rotary cutter. Asking price is $20k for the package.
It does get cold here in upstate NY in the winter.

So help me recall the potential for emissions/regen issues/failures for this machine.
Thanks!

Agree. It was the B3350 that had a unique emissions system that was supposed to be cheaper, but turned out to just be worse. Some people have great luck with them, particularly in warm climates. Others have no success at all.

But I'm not aware of any systemic issues with an L3901, and in fact they're a great tractor that people would fall over themselves to buy at the right price. 39HP is getting towards the top of the range for that size machine - so it's effectively the "high HP model."
