Hello everyone. My wife and I bought a new ZD323 last month, mainly because we were tired of mowing with junk. We only mow about four acres, and yes I know it's overkill...but it's our money. :) So far, we love it. We looked at Grasshopper and Walker, but Kubota was the winner, hands-down.

My wife does most of the mowing, and has many hours on various zero-turn Cub Cadets; however, liquid-cooled and diesel are new to her, and she's not yet used to reading the various gauges. Yesterday (while I was at work), she was mowing and said the low-fuel light for the right (primary) tank came on, so she switched to the left tank. However, she said the light was flashing, and was accompanied by a horn. I checked the machine several hours later, and the low-fuel light was not on, although she had logged close to 4-hours since the last fill-up. I checked the oil level, and it was halfway between the full and add mark. I also noted that the coolant level in the radiator was full, but was below the "L" in the expansion tank (no evidence of leaks anywhere). The owners manual does not say anything about the horn signal activating except in an overheat situation, and I'm thinking that maybe the flashing light she saw was the oil pressure light...I don't know. The mower has only 11.6 hours on it.

When the low-fuel light first comes on, does it flash initially? Is it accompanied by an audible warning? Again, the book doesn't say. Also, I was wondering what type/viscosity of oil I should add to a new engine, since the manual doesn't specify what's used at the factory...just to change it after the first 50-hours.

Thanks for your insight and help.
