I don't know if this is a dumb question or not, but is there anything that prevents a passenger from riding in the backhoe seat while the tractor is being driven on the standard L tractors? Like a safety cutoff switch or something. I currently have a B2320 but am looking at getting an L2501 with a backhoe. Not for joyriding, but for instance one time we needed to patch my driveway several hundred feet from my house, so I threw a couple bags of cold patch asphalt and some tools in the loader and drove there, while my son had to walk to and from there to help me out.

No - no switch in there at all - IDEA is bad- but I have done far worse.

While working commercial construction - we had a open 6' tall steam tunnel duct below ground level- 200 feet long - ladder was on the other end - track hoe with empty bucket and idle operator!

He told me that it was a bad idea - but I got in the bucket (Big a$$ bucket ) and rode down into the ditch with lazy fall gauge ($$$$$ expensive tool!)

I told him that I would take the heat......everything went well ....

BUT I would not "ride" back there - the bucket on a back hoe aint that big, nothing to hold on to....etc.....

plus - when your son gets older......he gets to ride in the seat!!! Youngin' need to walk!:D:)

I haven't used it in awhile but if I remember correctly, if the backhoe seat is up, the tractor won't go anywhere. I would forget to fold the seat down and the tractor wouldn't move.

I have the 3901 with BH77. I have had my son ride in BH seat while I drive. There is no safety switch issue. I don't see any issue as long as the person in BH seat stays clear of the BH controls.
