I have ordered a new SSQA (B1673) and a new Bucket ( B2371) from my local dealer at a cost of $1200 I paid for the parts. They then stated they would not know shipping cost until received, he estimated around $100 the parts arrived and now says shipping cost is $195. These parts were ordered through the sales dept.
My question is are shipping charges normally charged for when ordered through sales dept / whole goods on a no rush order? I did agree to pay shipping but was surprised his estimate was that much lower?
For those wondering I am converting my B2601 loader to SSQA.

I had it both ways. No charge if added to their order. Sometimes shipping charged even if in no hurry.

Just went threw this with JD {Mother Deere}. Little back ground. I had looked around over the winter about up dating our combine. Long story short it was going to take three hundred grand to up grade as we would have to change our two heads out also as JD has made it so our current heads won't work on a newer combine. This three hundred grand wouldn't be a new machine just lower hours than out current one. So back in March JD was running some discounts on combine parts and labor to get there shop full and sell some parts. I do my own work. So we did some parts shopping for our current combine. In the planter and combine world there are lots of aftermarket parts and a lot of them are very good and much cheaper than OEM. So with some discounts I ordered all JD parts instead of aftermarket. Pretty close to fifty grand of parts. Always in the past JD charged no freight on parts that come in there normal stock orders. Didn't matter if it was whole goods or from the parts counter. I had verity with the parts man there would be no freight on this order as it would be coming from many JD warehouses and outlets. There was no deposit on the order as I have done business in this dealership for years lots of different owners the the dealership over the years. Very corporate now days. I would have to check but I think this dealership is one of thirty in this chain. So two months later I get a call all the parts have come in. I am busy so I hook the trailer up and send the wife to pickup the parts. I gave her the invoice with the parts listed and the total. A couple hours later I get a call from her she is loaded and went in to settle up and the bill is two grand more. I said why? She says there is two grand freight on the bottom of the invoice. Parts guy says policy change. I said get the parts manger on the phone. New guy old manger gone. He tells me the policy changed since I ordered the parts and I am paying the freight. I told him to unload the parts I am not paying the freight. Two days later I am at the Corporate office talking to the big boys. It wasn't very pretty as I don't care for getting screwed around. I ended up getting the parts for no freight as they didn't want to send them back and I will no longer be doing any business with that chain of dealerships. It will be a little more of a drive for me but we have other dealers that aren't part of this chain in the area. They are more than happy to take my money and not charge freight and I found out one has a part drop within five miles of my house five days a week so that will be handy.

Wow, and I was only dealing with an Extra $95. In your case the parts were ordered prior to the corporate change and the original invoice should have been honored.

Do they really think they get away charging you freight on parts when you collect them on their premises? Strange world we are living in.

Great that you did not accept that and did something about it. Also that you changed the dealer was good. May give them something to think about ...

Generally, ordered parts have a restocking fee if you don't accept them. Otherwise...
Freight, shipping etc, should be configured into the selling price. The price quoted to you at order time. If you pick it up at the dealer.

If they specify, 'Plus shipping', it's on the customer. All of which should be told to the customer up front.

I don't have to remind you guys that there is some strange stuff going on at JD.

If I am going to pay for shipping, ship it to my home or business. I am not hooking up the trailer and driving to pick up something I already paid a shipping cost for.

I, for one, would love to see your progress on this little endeavor.

Sounds to me like a cool project with lots if cutting, measuring and welding, so keep your phone nearby, and take lots of pics, and post your progress please!

I have ordered a number of things through the parts dept and usually there is no shipping if I pick up in store. However, I ordered a longer blade for my Land Pride rear blade and they said it could be put on a truck bringing some other large parts. I was charged shipping and they told me about it when I ordered. The guy said it was due to the weight of the blade.

This should be a simple job. Remove old pin on bucket, install new SSQA plate assembly to the loader arms and then the new SSQA bucket attaches. I will then put my old pin-bucket up for sale.

All went well and as planned as far as install. Shipping charges, not very happy with but not worth arguing about with dealer. It appears there was a third item attached to my pallet that was removed, not sure if I paid for its shipping also.

Finished install, had to machine a groove in the original pins for a c-clip so they could be reused. Did not buy new pins designed for new SSQA plate. Clips keep pin from sliding out.
