I need to replace the PTO shaft shield on my King Cutter bush hog. I looked at Ag Supply and they have a ton of shields but no specs on the shields which gives me an inkling of how to make a selection. How do you select the correct shield?

Look at the Bare Company. The sell a good shield with a nice way to disconnect it from the shaft.

To try and answer the question there should be a groove at the end of the half shaft near the u-joint. It may have a plastic bushing in it. You will need to know the width and diameter (at bottom) of the groove. You will buy a shield based on getting a bushing that fits the groove.

The one I got from Bare had several different ones supplied and you just use the correct ones that fit.

The plastic shield then fits onto the bushing and attaches to it.

The bushing you are referring to is the shield bearing which allows the shield to stay stationary when the shaft is turning. I looked Bare and they give you more info than Ag Supply. I will look at the shaft tomorrow to see if there are any numbers on the shaft that corresponds with the Ag Supply part numbers, and if not I will call Bare. Thanks for the info.
