PTO shaft rebuild

Has anyone rebuilt a PTO shaft. It appears that the one we used with our rototiller and quickhitch was too short and would like to rebuild the shaft to be longer.

I think you will find just buying a new shaft and cut it to the right length will be the best rout, especially since yours is too short. Tractor supply, granger or just look on line they aren't that expensive.

You may be able to get the existing shaft fixed by cutting off the ends and welding on new shaft halves. If you don’t have the skills a drive line shop may be able to do it.

may be cheaper to just buy the whole thing if you can figure out what ends you need. I imagine there are a few different types to choose from.

you may be able to find the correct information about the shaft in the implement’s owners manual

No welding needed you just need to buy a new piece of pto inner, or outer tube. They are installed by drilling a hole with roll pin. If your lucky the shield will still fit if not the shield may be too short too. If the shield is too short you may be cheaper to just buy a new shaft and keep this one for parts.
