I have an old Kubota B6200 tractor. I inadvertently pulled out the PTO drive when I thought I had disconnected the shaft and of course lost a lot of oil. That included the inner male spline, outer lip seal etc. However I could not find how this assembly is retained having expected to find a circlip or similar. (In the usa you may call these spring rings). Can anyone tell me the following:
1. How is the assembly retained?
2. I found a spacer ring on the floor and it fitted onto the inner shaft ... is that correct?
3. What kind of oil should I use as a lot was lost over the floor!?

I did download a manual some years ago but good prints were difficult so I cannot find the answers I need. I wondered if a retention device was on the inside so maybe leaving broken bits there which could cause damage.

Your advice will be much appreciated from across the Atlantic!

You may look at Kubota USA website or your local country Kubota website under the illustrated parts list. There are many different types of B6200 but I looked at the images of one and it looks like there is a bolt in the end of the PTO shaft inside the tractor that holds the PTO shaft assembly together. That assembly would then come out of the rear of the tractor by removing the four bolts on the cover.

if just the shaft came out I assume that you now have several parts laying inside the tractor. You may be able to recover those parts when the cover is removed.

you can use UDT oil.

Appreciate your advice so will take the cover off especially as any loose parts could cause a lot of damage! Second on the list after finding out why my '36 Morris 8 is not starting well!!
Thanks again for answering, Nick
