I just got a quote on an MX4900HST with the following implements:

MX4900HST - $37,200
Rotary Cutter - RCR1872 - $3,500
Box Blade- BB2572 - $1,900
3rd function valve - $1,900 includes install
Grappler- SCG1060 - $4,200

Everything is priced out separately, but total ends up being $48,700. Is this a decent deal? Looks below MSRP on the site.

Welcome to OTT.

It seems alright to me. If you say it's priced separately, giving us the individual prices might allow us to give you a better answer.

That said, I can't really imagine paying that for a tractor and implements, I buy most everything of mine secondhand so I'm a little out of my element here. :)

Thanks! Just updated breakdown. Why do you choose secondhand vs new?

Good day.

MX is an awesome machine (I might be very biased😉)

I really don’t know current prices but that doesn’t seem bad…is that a delivered price? Does that price include the loader and bucket? If I were worried about the price being a good deal or not, I would call another dealer or two for a price (I like checking three and see where they are at). Personally if planning to have the dealer do service I think that is more important to shop their service. Do you have any idea if that is a reputable and easy to work with dealer?

what’s the comparable price on an MX6000?

regarding the grapple, LP offers good stuff IMO, but to me that seems proud compared to some other brands. It might be worth while to price a couple other brands unless you are dead set on LP. (Ie. EA or Catawba…I am biased towards The EA and Landpride but I think Catawba is worth a look)…if you are shopping around at EA or wherever I’d price their Boxblades as well just to see what type of difference)

happy shopping. 🍻

Based on the prices you listed - could you find cheaper implements? Likely. Is it a good price for what you are getting? Seems like it.

As @GrumpyFarmer mentioned, does the tractor come with a bucket, and 3 point hitch?

Why do you choose secondhand vs new?
To be clear I'm not telling you to buy one or the other, but my reasoning is this:

Obviously its better to have a brand new machine that you know the maintenance history of. That said I don't have that kind of money, so secondhand is what I know. There are a lot of people out there who buy tractors like these with a lot of attachments and after 30 or 40 hours they realize it's not really what they wanted or sell their property etc. Then they go up for sale at a large depreciation. At least in my area I see this kind of a lot.

My little old tractor with a handful of attachments cost me about $500 altogether. Just needed a little work.

That price does include a loader and a bucket as well as free delivery as I only live 15 mins or so from dealer. To give some context, we own 15 acres that was all timber. We cleared three of it to start on a shop (we moved from two hours away). Now that we have lived here for a couple of months, we are wanting to clear the rest of the land for cattle. There’s a bunch of work to be done. I was originally looking at a smaller tractor, but heard everyone say that you always want to go bigger - which is why I moved to the MX series. Lots of moving dirt, would need a rock bucket to sift through rocks, grapple for cleaning up tree limbs and bush hog to keep it clean when it’s all said and done. I just wanted some other people opinions to make sure I was thinking about it all correctly.

I have an MX on 15 acres in NZ. Our land is pretty dry, and the MX is perhaps a size too large given the grass is sparse and not a lot of trees. But it does the driveway well, and I'd rather be one size too large than one size too small. The MX is good buying - a lot of metal for your money. The higher HP L size really aren't much cheaper.
