Hello, looking at trying to purchase a Kubota RTV X1120 at an auction. It's a 2018 with 15313 miles and 3086 hours on it. going to preview today. I'm assuming that it was a past crew personal mover Looks pretty good on posted auctioneer pics, seats no tears, steel wheels show medium rock damage, a little surface rust below throttle and brake area (wet boot area) Engine and trans. look clean (but that is basic pressure cleaning.
During my preview walk I'll be checking fluid levels. HST, Trans. and engine fluids along with coolant. I'd like to do a compression check, not happening.
My question is about where should I be for max bid. Already set, would like to stay under 6500 including fees. I'm aware these hold their value. I've set my max bid, so I don't go into an auction frieze. and possibly check areas for hidden rust pockets.
Off I go.

How much can you afford to lose considering they will probably ding you a buyers premium and taxes on top?
Ah, being aware of final cost is what one needs to be aware of when using auction houses. I've done the math and will determine my final bid. I've seen in the past a good deal turn into questionable. Calm mines

well, I was a loser, but not without bumping my max bid once a reasonable amount and then I cooled off. It was for the best..... I would of just got into extra mischief. After I bowed out and outbid, three bidders continued to go at it in the last 5 minutes.
After my preview, I did find out a dealer took it in as trade and then turned it over to an auction house. The high hours gave me a little pause, but it sounded good even with a screwdriver stethoscope.

When a dealer unloads at an auction, it is a sure sign they don't want the headache. Most dealers will give a 30 day warranty if they sell, otherwise they auction to unload it and buyer beware!

If it went for over $7000, I don't think you lost. It's probably the wrong time of year to get a bargain 4x4. Hormones running in the hunters and the hunted.

PoTreeBoy, yes, I lost out but, I had to look at fees, servicing and prep and knowing me, trying to preform a low hour type service on a 3K plus unit, oh well.
