I did the adjustment as specified in the book.
Turned the turnbuckle, to shorten, until the relief valve began to be operated and then lengthened it by 1-1/2 turns.
Then when I ran it down and up and stopped the engine I did not get the .2-.79" free play.
The feedback rod ended up a lot shorter than it was from the factory setting that I first found it at.
My take on the function of this feedback rod is that it is supposed to relieve the hydraulic pressure before the lift arms hit their top travel.
Is this correct?
