Just added some plow rubber to a rear blade. Supposed to wear better than steel and not so rough on concrete, pavers etc. no snow to try it yet, but actually graded the drive with it and it worked great. This stuff is heavy duty, you give them the hole measurements and it comes pre slotted based on your dimensions.

A rubber blade is great for snow.

Some dairy farmers use 1/3 of an old tractor tire as a rear blade to scrape the manure in the barn. The rubber makes a good 'seal' with the concrete floor to squeegee it clean.
Like BruceP mentioned, an old tire make a scraper! Pretty easy to make.
