pipe that keeps smoking a little

B20, 4ft bush hog, back hoe (not Kubota B20), landscape rake, snow plough, etc
on my B20, i have a pipe pointing downwards by the front left wheel, i think its some kind of breather pipe for the engine? it seems to smoke quite a bit sometimes, mainly whiteish smoke. i was told this is normal, is that so? or does this indicate a problem somewhere?

It's valve cover breather, yes normal for some blow-by to come out of it.
If it get excessive, has oil with it, or is getting hard to start, those are all indications it's going to need the motor rebuilt. ;)
