I know this may be partly a "vanity" question, but I also am proud of my brand new BX and want it to last a long time. So I thought I would ask on this forum, do you re-paint the bottom of your loader bucket? Is it necessary? I know the bottom of the bucket get a lot of scraping and scratching while moving dirt and rock and simply lowering it onto pavement and thus will get scratched to the bare metal. But I wondered if it would be good to paint it from time to time, or if most folks just accept that it's going to have the paint scratched away, leave it that way, and it won't adversely affect the life of the bucket. Again, I do want the tractor to be well maintained and last a long time, and yes, look good too! Ha! but if it isn't necessary to paint it or otherwise protect it, then I would just accept it and not worry about it. Thanks for your thoughts and opinions!

My B2910 bucket bottom has been ignored for 18 years now. Top and side edges have been reinforced. My guess is better to spend your time on other maintenance issues.

Of course if you have more time than you know what to do with it why not?

if you want it to look 'pretty' 24/7, cut the bottom of, replace with stainless steel. Any good welder can do the job and won't cost an 'arm and a leg'....

Know a guy who bought a Massey Ferguson scut and painted the bucket red right before winter. After the snow melted, he had red streaks all over his concrete driveway.

When you backdag, you’ll scrape any paint right off. If you have to, try some POR15. I once painted the inside of a bucket with it in silver, and used the hell out of it and when I sold it, it looked like the day I painted it.

Once a year I paint the bottom with brown primer where the paint is gone, just to help protect it.

But I am also the one who waxes the tractor prior to winter and in the spring. Just makes it easier to clean it and a good opportunity to check her over for any leaks or repairs that may be needed.

SS to replace the btm of my BX23S bucket is about 120 Canucks. neighbour will rollform the sides and back for a good fit, then he'll weld it on.
