I need to do my 50h service on the L2502. I've already changed the engine oil filter and the HST filter. I now need to change the "inlet filter" with I believe is the hydraulic filter.

I wanna know if that's gonna bleed a lot of oil. I'm planning on doing this in the field instead of the garage. Am I gonna need a large bucket and a gallon of new oil?

If you just unscrew that filter you're going to drain way more than a gallon, unless you're mighty quick.

Option 1 Pull the plug, catch the oil (be prepared for 10 gallons), and reuse the oil.

Option 2 Use a Shop Vac on the fill port to maintain a vacuum on the sump and prevent the fluid from draining. I've never personally done this.

I did mine by just "being quick"...I lost a few quarts, but it was not too bad.....

However, if you "fumble" that filter, you will be sad.

I've done the shop vac trick, and it works (at least the second time)... First time it was blowing air into the tractor, thus pressurizing the tank... THAT way did spray the oil out and made a mess but after swapping the hoses, work like a charm!
