I've never seen an engine that doesn't have an oil filter. Some early engines had a canister oil filter. A round canister that unscrews and the oil filter is inside. The screen in the oil pan should never have to be cleaned.
Thanks. You are correct of course, I was thinking about the hydraulic screen and the fact the hydraulics have no spin on filter. Sorry for the confusion.
