Noisy hydro

The three Kubotas and the Ford all had different degrees of whine. The old Ford 1210 is probably the least offensive, followed by the L4240. The B7500 was worse and the L3200 was the noisiest.

I could run it while wearing a ball cap and it was borderline intolerable. Wearing a brimmed hat made ear protection mandatory. And that was before I built the cab which made it even worse.

Just to come at the whining HST from a slightly different angle, what RPM have you been running when you notice the noise?

My little Kubota had a 3 cylinder engine similar in power to yours. Until it was revved up, say 2/3 of wide open, the hydraulic pump was not producing very much output and the HST let you know it wasn't happy. Your HST likewise wants enough RPM's to make adequate hydraulic flow.

Related question: you do realize that if the transmission is whining because of an overload condition, one corrective action is not pressing the go pedal more, but backing off the pedal, right?

B7100's are noisy and yes the HST whines quite a bit.
They can whine more than normal when the clutch is going out.
If it's having a hard time climbing a grade and the engine rpm's only drop slightly during that it might be a clutch issue.
It will take more research to know if that is it or not.

The more the revs or higher the revs, the louder the whine. Yes they need enough revs to make them work properly.
