Hi folks,

New to the forum & relatively new to my Kubota L4701. I had the dealer install the OEM third function to operate a grapple on my FEL. Now I'm thinking about adding a set of rear remotes and I've been looking at Summit's monoblock 2 spool DCV.

Summit's Monoblock Hydraulic Directional Control Valve, 2 Spool, 11 GPM

I'm pretty handy, but almost a complete novice on hydraulics. Since I don't believe the OEM third function has a power beyond port, I was thinking of running a hose from the FEL's power beyond over to the Summit DCV then over to the third function. It seems to me that this serial configuration should work and allow me to use the loader, grapple & rear remotes simultaneously, albeit with some decreased power/pressure. I'm hoping some of you guys that know hydraulics can let me know if this is doable and/or if there is anything I'll need to worry about.

My caution to hydraulic novices is that this is not a "LETS TRY IT AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS" process.

In a fraction of a second your main pump and or other very expensive parts can be destroyed.

Unlike most hydraulic valves, a third function valve is designed for full system pressure on both its ports.

It is installed in series with the loader valve's PB port which on most tractors is feeding the 3 pt hitch and rear remotes.

A normal hydraulic valve can only tolerate around 500 psi on its TANK port but many do not know that and plumb a valve incorrectly

Does your Summit DCV have a PB port of its own?

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the reply! Yes, the Summit DCV does have a PB port. After looking at the third function schematic, it looks like I may also have the option of feeding the Summit DCV from the tank outlet. Would that be a better option than the reverse (my original idea)?
