So, in the beginning it wouldn't start. Found the problem, hydraulic line was plugged after some sort of accessory was removed and pump resistance wouldn't let engine turn fast enough to start. Now a new problem. one injector is pumping air. I've bled lines and the #1 injector keeps pumping air. Does this mean the pump is bad?

Doesn't mean the pump is bad.

To begin, you need to be sure fuel is getting to the injection pump. Is the fuel filter clean? Does fuel flow freely to the IP?

Make sure you have the throttle on max. Loosen the nut at the top of each injector. Turn engine over for 15-20 seconds. May have to do this several times, but wait a couple of minutes after about 3 start attempts to let the starter cool.

Any time during this procedure if no air bubbles come out (and just fuel) of the fuel line tighten THAT nut. Continue this process until all lines are without air.

You probably have just not been patient enough in the bleeding process.

There is a bleed valve (looks like a bolt head on a large nut) on the injector pump. Open it and fuel should come out of it. Let it run a bit then close it.

Then loosen the line at the injector. Pull out decompression knob put hand throttle on half to full throttle and crank for a few seconds. Wait a minute or so and repeat. Repeat until you get fuel only with no bubbles and then tighten the fuel line at injector.

On my L185 the tank rusted on the inside and was limiting the fuel flow to the filter and the injector pump. You may want to be sure you have good flow out of the tank line at top of the filter

You didn't by any chance loosen the injection line on the pump rather than at the injector, did you?
