Thanks for your help. The gearbox is on my list. I need to get a syringe or something to suck the oil out.
I ordered a switch, figuring it was a good idea to spend $10 and make an easy repair before doing a difficult diagnostic. I ordered the one that goes on the PTO control. I don't recall right now, but I think it may be the same part used on the brake.
Mine doesn’t have a fitting on the jack and it was also difficult to move when I got it. I just sprayed the threads with Kroil and lifted it up a few times. I spray it every time I grease everything else or when I change blades.Today I tried to use the front lift, and it was tough sledding. I don't think it has been used more than once or twice since 2015. I believe it is full of grit from mowing.
Before I crawl around under there and go through the manual, can anyone tell me if there is a zerk that will help me grease the jack? There has to be.
You don't have to buy SUDT2, and it's not unreasonably priced for a synthetic hydraulic oil. If your climate isn't all that cold (i.e. doesn't go below freezing), then the old school UDT works just fine, and most Kubota tractors list both as being suitable. SUDT2 has many benefits, but the main one is that it flows better in the cold.Thanks. That is very helpful.
I wonder if it will be possible to put a zerk on it somewhere.
I haven't even seen the threads yet. I assume I'll have to lie on my back.
If anyone here has a recommendation for coolant, I plan to replace it. I am hoping Kubota hasn't worked it out so I have to buy KubotaKool or OrangeGard or Koolbota or some other overpriced proprietary stuff, like I have to buy SUDT2!
When you look at the deck it has anti-scalp wheels on each corner of the deck. The front ones are entirely missing - someone's taken them off then lost them. When you say He put new tires on this thing as well as filters and fluids, and he says the dealer told him not to bother with the front scalp wheels on the corners, do you mean new tires on the rear drive wheels?
Shouldn't they last a lot of hours?
No, I believe he's talking about the anti-scalp wheels. In that photo you can see anti-scalp wheels on the rear of the deck ( just in front of the rear tires). You can see a bracket for anti-scalp wheels on the front of the deck, but no wheel.I took his statement to mean that the pneumatic tires had been replaced. Shouldn't they last longer than 500 hours?
