Was operating at low speed (cultipacking) when the tractor suddenly quit and will not restart.

The following lights are showing on the dash: battery, oil pressure and PTO (on). PTO is NOT on, synchro shuttle lever IS in neutral, and yet turning the key does nothing (no cranking, just zilch). Seems as if the safety shut-off is operating when it shoudn't.

Got underneath to see if the wire running to the PTO on/off switch was somehow unplugged (that wire runs very close to the three-point lift lever, thought perhaps it had caught when I was lifting the cultipacker) - looks fine.

Have also checked oil, coolant, fuel, etc. All fine. Only has 94 hours on it, and 50--hour service was completed on schedule.

Anyone have a suggestion? Many thanks in advance!

P.S. Manual transmission (high-low, plus 4 gears)

Since your pto light is I would suggest that the problem lies with it. Possible a combination of the pto and seat switches. For the tractor to have quit when running I think the seat switch is giving the main problem.

I know on the newer units you can get out of the seat and it will not shut down as long as the PTO is disengaged. So obviously the seat and PTO switches are interconnected some how. So perhaps the power line that feeds the 2 switches has opened up, but the indicator is showing PTO engaged?

Weird stuff can happen; I had a car that if I bumped and disconnected the wire to the license plate illumination, then the cigarette lighter stopped working.
So you can never tell without looking at the diagram for the switch logic, and if it is computerized logic then definitely time for the warranty shop to look at it.

Thanks. Dealer will certainly be getting a call tomorrow AM (they closed at 3:00 on Saturday and are closed Sunday). Hoping it something as simple as a disconnected wire. Didn't think to check the seat connections. Will do that. Thanks.

I bypassed my seat connection on my B3200 because when I would stand up to navigate while mowing the darn thing would cut the engine.
Try moving your PTO lever until the light goes out.

How crazy, I had that happen on my B2920. Everything was working perfect, next thing ya know it was dead. I tried rocking the peddle, making sure the pto was disengaged and looking at the seat switch. Nothing. I called one dealer and he was useless. (he told me to bring it in and they would look at it but wouldn't try and walk me through anything.)

My brain was fried, my 2 year old needed to eat and my tractor is stuck in a high end residential neighborhood back yard. (thank god they were family) In did ask, how am I suppose to bring it it? It's not like I can push it.

Then it dawned on me and the guy over the phone at the same time. Try the fuse box for $h!t$ and grins. Bingo, the fuse it was.

Cost me 45 minutes but it was a good lesson.

And I got my free beach sand for my son :)
