Ok....here's my situation. I bought a L3901 in June... Order 3 implements for it...a RCR 1860, a tiller and Box Blade.... I'm still waiting on all 3 implements to come in! I've been very patient up to this point, but I really need the Brush cutter now... I asked the dealer about upgrading to the RCR 1872 and he said that the L3901 will struggle with it...not so much on level ground but on any type of incline...I do have some incline to my property...but I would say only a 3% grade... So my question is does anyone have this set up and what your experience is with it?....is the RCR 1872 too much for the L3901? Or is the dealer BS'ing me so he doesn't take the hit? I don't even mind paying the difference between the two...I just really need the cutter now...Also I've had the tractor for only 1 week because the dang thing started leaking hydraulic fluid between the tranny and rear end... So they split the case and re siliconed it...and they've been waiting to bring it back till the implements come in...but now I'm being told it won't be here till the middle of September..... Any input would be greatly appreciated...specs say that the L3901 has the HP to handle it....but would like real world experience information... Ty!

If the 72 at the end of RCR 1872 implies 6 ft, check your owner's manual first. My 3560 is rated for 72 " and 926 lbs for any kind of rotary cutter, and I would think the 3901 could handle the same weight and width. But it also says that exceeding the recommended specs can cause damages that will then not be covered by its warranty. Your dealer might be reluctant to sell you a larger size for that reason. It might work fine, but you and he are taking a chance. If the larger size is in specs, then the dealer might be just stalling.

As far as the specs go.... It says everything should be fine. Tractor horsepower on the operating sheet says 20-65 hp.... And I'm at 37.5 engine hp and 30 hp at the PTO.... I'm waiting for a RCR 1860...so there's not much difference in the specs.... Weight difference between the two is only 138 lbs.... Same power requirements for both decks?....it's just a little heavier and longer/wider..

Likely its just the same gearbox, with a wider deck, and longer blades. At 30 PTO HP, I'd stick with a 60" model...:D

I have the the 1872 and it works very well with my tractor. I think our HP is very close.
My tractor has the cab which is bound to use some of the HP, since air conditioning is always running.
Would think you should be fine with a 6ft model.
Good luck with your purchase!
