I recently picked up a non running/moving 89 b6200 4wd for $500. After towing home; all fluids were drained, filters cleaned and tractor cleaned. The tractor cleaned up nicely and now fires and runs great but does not move. I split the tractor and found the clutch to be toast. The splines are gone and the face is practically polished. I found a deal on ebay for clutch kits and ordered the following items.
Clutch Kit (Pressure Plate, Disc, Throwout bearing, pilot bushing)
Resurfaced flywheel
Bell housing gasket
Rear main seal and both gaskets (Hesitated but ended up deciding to replace)
I need to order the pilot bushing seal tomorrow.
I plan on working on this project next week when parts arrive and had a few concerns and wanted to seek advice.
Pilot Bushing
I'm going to try the bread or paper water trick to remove the bushing. Is there a trick to replacing the seal? I assume clean the surface and after pressing the bushing in put a little oil on the seal and light smack in with a mallet.
Rear main seal
Do you guys typically use RTV on the rear main seal gaskets? I have always been advised to not use RTV but fear this will leak after I replace and the other tells me it will leak if I don't.
Throwout bearing
I have yet to pull the shaft out of the housing. Does this required to pressed of the bearing holder?
I appreciate any help with this. I have searched for hours and downloaded the service manuals although they are not very detailed unless I just got a bad version.
Heres some pics for clicks. Ill post more as I get further along if anyone is interested.
