Hey folks, I ordered a w.r. long 3rd function kit for my cab tractor and dropped it off at a friend's shop who does heavy equipment work. Hes getting his ass kicked and said the instructions are lacking and the kit doesnt fit. Has anyone on here used this kit?

Land Pride has a video of their kits instalation and after sending it to him said the kits are completely different.

Looking for some guidance and pics if available.

Thanks

Very little to go on there. Lets start with the model number of thr WR Long kit. Theres generally not much to installing them.

I have the Kubota/Land Pride factory kit (380-331A) in my MX6000 but it's all the same principles applied. W.R. Long has a good explanation of how the 3rd function interfaces with the loader valve and front hydraulic block.

wr_long_1065.jpg

The front hydraulic block has three ports A, B and T2. See photo of my MX factory 3rd function kit below.

A on front hydraulic block to P port on the 3rd function valve
T port on the 3rd function valve connects to the P port on the loader valve
B port on the front hydraulic block connects to the BY port on the loader valve
T2 port on the front hydraulic block connects to T port on the loader valve

This photo might help. It shows the ports on the loader valve and I assume you have the same one i.e. MX2132. I much prefer the factory 3rd function kits for numerous reasons such as the included brackets that are designed to fit, the hoses are sheathed with stainless steel clamps, and even the control knobs that are in the cab are nicer, and the kit isn't that much more than the W.R. Long or other kits.

1A, 1B, 2A, 2B go to the loader
P connects to the T port on the 3rd function valve
BY connects to port B on the front hydraulic block
T connects to port T2 on the front hydraulic block

That puts the 3rd function ahead of the loader. You sure thats how its connected?

I am pretty sure WR Long puts theirs after the loader.

Yes. This is how my factory 3rd function is set up.

Yes, i found and read the instructions. Thats not the norm for Kubota/Landpride. Their other 3rd function kits put the third function downstream of the loader as does Summit and WR Long.

Dan
Well, three Kubota tractors all with 3rd functions installed by the local dealer and zero issues. :) For those not following, this drawing of the front hydraulic block might help.

I w.ould not expect any "issues". It works either way but the loader and third function do not interact the same. I will lesve it to you to figure out the difference.

Dan
The local dealer installed the 3rd function kit exactly as described in the instructions from Great Plains/Land Pride and just as the table I made above shows. Here are the instructions for the 380-331a kit. I find the instructions to be very clear so not sure how someone would struggle with this installation.

This chart shows hose connections both without the 3rd function and with the 3rd function. The Great Plains/Land Pride instructions above state:

1. Remove the hose that connects port A at the front hydraulic block to port P at the loader valve
2. Connect the hose from port T on the 3rd function valve to port P on the loader valve
3. Connect the hose from port P on the 3rd function valve to port A on the front hydraulic block

We heard you the first three times. Thats not how WR Long plumbs theirs.

I'm repeating it with supporting data since you stated ....

"Yes, i found and read the instructions. Thats not the norm for Kubota/Landpride. Their other 3rd function kits put the third function downstream of the loader as does Summit and WR Long."

Not sure what instructions you were looking at but clearly my local dealer knows what they're doing which comes as no surprise.

I have actually read the instructions for lots of other Kubota 3rd function kits.

Nobody said your Kubota dealer did it wrong. Outside of that kit putting the 3rd function ahead of the koader is just not the norm even for Kubota. Is that so hard to grasp?
