On my 64 hr MX6000 the alternator belt just came off. Not sure why, but it did. What a royal pain in the butt to get back on. I loosened the alternator, but it didnt give me enough slack to get it on no matter how I tried. I finally got it wedged on and bumped the starter to jump it on. With the alernator completely loose, the belt is almost tight.

Any tips or special secrets? My belt was a bit chewed up, so i am probably going to get another one as a spare. Going to call the dealer tomorrow. Thanks!

Sounds right for tension. I just had mine off the other day, and it was the same. I take the top bolt out of the adjuster to alt, and that generally gives enough play.

cab model? If so did you get any dealer add on like heater kit/high amp alt? I would scrutinize your pully alignment.

Thanks, I will try that the next time. I have a CAB, so I think it comes with a larger alternator. I didnt ask for one. Maybe the pulley is bigger and harder to get the belt on. Thanks for the reply.

I had the same thing happen at 50 hours on my MX6000. I was out brush cutting and didn’t even know until the alternator light came on. The belt was completely chewed up. This is the third one I’ve heard of coming off on a new tractor. I’m always checking it now.

Maybe they had a run of junk belts. Still not sure what happened to mine, but I was pushing up some heavy brush piles a day or so earlier. I am thinking a stick may have gotten up there and knocked the belt off. The belt may have been riding on the water pump still working. Then it finally jumped off. I say this, because it jumped off again and was still turning the alternator/pump. New belt is on order as old belt is toast.
