MX5800 vs. L4760 ?

Looking to purchase a 4WD tractor and head about to explode with all the options out there. Somewhat narrowed down to MX5800 or L4760 after determining that the larger "L" series is more than needed and more $$ that could go towards implements. Primary use: 8 acres of hobby tilling/food plots, some dirt road grading and maintenance.
My main Qs: 1). The L4760 has less HP but better hydraulics than the MX5800 - 3 pt lifts 400lbs more and FEL is same. Also L weighs 100 lbs more - "Will it PULL as good as the MX5800?" (Heavy discs?).
2). Is the MX5800 made to a "cheaper standard"? Both have HST trans - but is it same quality? Why is it's 3 Pt hitch weaker BUT rated class I & II ? (L47 only class 1).
Since the L4760 costs $3000 more it seems a valid question.
Dealer wants $32,000 + tax for MX5800 w/FEL/HD bucket/Brush Guard/loaded AG tires. Have yet to price the L4760. Any constructive comments or info appreciated.

The MX is an older, proven design, very similar to the old L30 and is not cheaper, just more economical without the HST+ transmission so many of us love while others view it as an unnecessary frill.

58HP is naturally going to pull more than 47HP, so if that's important...

The Grand L60s are deluxe tractors with a bit more refined features, an L60 with the same HP will do everything the MX will, but you can't get 58HP performance out of a 47HP machine.

If a good, basic work tractor for a good price is what you're after then the MX is going to be your best buy.

My preference is for the Grand L, but my L5740 sure won't outwork an MX and costs a LOT more.

Thanks for your reply. I thought that the MX does come with HST transmission ??
It does, but not the HST+ which includes stall guard, auto throttle, Hi/Lo in each range and maybe something I am forgetting.

Now it makes sense - thanks Triple R... I've asked 3 dealers and none have relayed that helpful info. One thing I'm finding is very consistent prices on the MX58 - all are in the $31k range w/FEL /HR bucket/grill guard/loaded AG tires...only one dealer was over that price. THe MX52 seem to sell in the $28k ranges was same options...not sure if price drops in late Fall/Winter?

I was basically in the same boat.....mx58, or L. I went with the grand L for several reasons even at a loss of power. I went L4060 because of the following. HST+ <---for a multitude of reasons. more gauge information (I'm a "the more you know" kind of guy) the seat on the L was far superior and you have the ability to go to an air ride later on or at purchase. I was only going to run 6 ft implements so the 4060 was plenty. the hst pedal on the grand is much nicer in my opinion. the tilt steering is nice. the rubber flooring mat isolated vibrations very well. there is a nice throttle up button on the FEL control stick which is awesome.

the hst+ was major in my opinion. it has the following
--stall guard....works great.
--the hi/lo in each of the 3 is very very handy. I find I use it during brush hogging and dirt work....you can shift that hi/lo on the fly while moving with the quick flip of the switch.
--the auto-throttle for when you are just tooling around is very nice and a fuel saver. basically if I'm not mowing or using my hydraulic FEL mounted auger, I never use the throttle stick....just leave it at idle. saves lots of fuel.

in the end for me it came down to "you get a bunch of really nice features for a little more coin", and I didn't really NEEED the big turbo.

also....hated the fuel tank on the MX (top of hood) vs the side funnel of the L60s. after having run about 50 gallons of fuel through it so far....I'm sure my back appreciates this.

and another....I was told that kubota didn't make a 3rd function kit for the 5800, they did for the 5200 and 4800 (which makes no sense to me) but they don't work on the 5800 for some reason. the option I was given was to run a hose from a rear remote to the front.....sorry but I wasn't going to go that route for sure and 3rd function was a must have for me. I did not get any rear remotes because I feel they were not necessary based on my implements. based on this, I'll give you some advice. you are already spending the money. put 3rd function and 3 remotes on your tractor and get the top-N-Tilt if you are not putting a back hoe on it. I did not, and trying to do boxblade work has been a bit more of a challenge as a result of this. get a quick hitch as well.

I'm one of those types who do a lot of research and soul searching before buying, so checking all this stuff will really benefit you in your decision. I looked at all the literature, Internet stuff then went to a dealer on a Sunday, so I could look at all of them without being bothered by a salesman. My seat of the pants experience changed my mind about what I wanted, ergonomics and "feel" played an important part.

I agree with Virginiavenom, mine has 3 rear remotes, Top and Tilt, third function; works great for all sorts of work.

I went through much the same a couple weeks ago. I ended up with the MX5800. Like the previous posters said, the L is feature rich and I liked it a lot. But I am very happy with my MX. It is a strong tough tractor. I brush hog some tough stuff and it doesnt even breathe hard. When I was looking, i was comparing to a 6060 which was the same hp as the MX and the price difference was significant.
I got the tractor, loader, heavy duty mower, canopy, front and rear work lights for $34k
Oh yeah included filing tires with beet juice. It does have HST. Only way it comes

I just spent 3 months battling the exact same dilemna!!!

I ended up with a new 2016 MX5800HST, Kubota loader, q/a bucket, grill guard, R4s full of fluid, and a canopy for 29000.00 delivered out of Cullman, AL.
Dixie Tractor was thousands less than the other 6 dealers I talked to.

On our farm we have a fleet of orange tractors and the new MX5800 is our favorite by a long shot. We have 2 MX5100s w/ gear drive, a M6060SUHD 8 speed, and 3 BX tractors. The MX5800 has a ton of power that is really nice and the HST is FLAWLESS!!! I looked long and hard at the Grand L tractors and could not justify the $ and now I couldn't be happier with my decision!

Nothing at all wrong with a Grand L, just ALOT more money.....

Gil appreciate your info and good to know you (and everyone) seems pleased w/the MX58. I have Not gotten a price quote below $31k for the MX58 w/FEL/HD bucket/brush guard/loaded AGs - but suspect that's possible...however $29k !! That seems like a great price and may drive to Alabama and "drive one back".

The going rate around here is 32-33k. I'm a returning customer at Dixie, but still don't see how he sold it for that. Another dealer handed me a invoice on another MX5800 to prove to me I was lying. After I bought mine I carried him the paper work and he just shook his head and apologized. Lol
