Hello,
I am new to the tractor world and would like to purchase a quick connect for my attachments. I have looked at several on the internet but not sure which may be best. I currently have a brush hog, finishing mower and a scraper. I am also looking to replace the anti sway screw type bars to a locking pin set up. Any recommendations??

Thanks,

Yours is a beast compared to my baby BX2380, but I am very happy with my Land Pride(Kubota) QH10

Even though I am also kinda new to the tractor world, I can tell you that all implements are NOT quick hitch compatible. You may need to determine that by:
#1-measuring
#2 consulting owners manuals on the implements
#3 asking the knowledgeable here.

For me, the quick hitch was the way to go. I struggled one time for nearly 30mins installing a rear blade once and for me, that's all it took. Now I can put on blades and boxes sometimes without getting out of the seat (except to lock the levers)

Good luck !

You should be able to change out the sway bar with the new pin type for the MX5400/6000. Also my MX6000 has telescoping lift arms. I found them so easy to use that I never bought a quick hitch. Those should also directly fit your MX if you decide to go that way.

SpeeCo makes a quick hitch that does NOT require bushings on each implement.

I like my pats and euro top hook from FitRite. On my 6000.

Good day….which is best? I think they all have trade offs…that being said I have a QH20 on my MX…it’s great except If I drop implement where not level or in the case of my back blade, it has hydraulics and is sags…QH really need to be lined up just right across both the link arms and the top link to be able to dock and lift. (If all lined up it’s definitely quicker…that to me is the benefit, but it’s not very forgiving.). I try to keep everything on concrete, so it’s not really an issue for the most part, however that is not always reasonable for everyone…and sometimes you may want to drop an implement off in the field.

On my B, I just recently put in a Pats Easy change and after a few uses I think I wish I had that on my MX…the reason is that you can much easier dock to the lower links and lift an implement which will square it up and then attach the top link. So from that aspect I think it is more flexible. The Pats easy change also allows the width to be a adjusted which makes it a lot more flexible to using different implements / categories…QH width is fixed and not very forgiving on implements that are a little off.

I have always stored stuff on dollys as much as possible (for storage and mobility by hand) for my B so a quick hitch was not necessary, until I got the MX with some larger implements.

Ultimately I think how you store implements, how many you have and how often you may change between might nudge you towards one or the other.

Your second paragraph is the exact reason I went with my setup. More flexibility to buy older implements that aren't quick hitch compatible.

You had to lengthen your top link with the Euro hook? My experience with a smaller tractor and Pat’s was I needed a longer top link.

Correct, well kinda. After the Pats was installed, the factory top link was too short by about 2-3" to hook to the cutter pictured. Wasn't of any concern to me, as I knew I was getting top and tilt. I added the euro hook after seeing @ctfjr setup in another thread. Sent Brian some measurements and everything arrived spot on.

So far I have been lucky on the top link…(Knock on wood), at least with just the tiller the original top link on the B has been fine. I have a couple more implements to try before I am sure I don’t need a longer top link…but so far it’s ok.

Thank you so much for your response, I think looking into the pats will help me.

Just a follow up on top link w/ Pats. 2 for 2 and I more attachment to go. Today I attached and finished final set up of the chipper and with the Pats, the original top link(output side of the link arm) is at about a 1/4 or 1/8 turn on the buckle from the stop…so I’d say it is right at the limit. I have no idea how many threads (length is left on The inside) left…on the side towards the tractor their is more room to turn though. Probably depending on the attachment and tractor as jyoutz suggested some may need a longer link.

The problem that I found with many of the quick connect systems was the difficulty of connecting the PTO shaft after the implement is connected. My solution was “PAT’s Easy Change” system. It attaches the
connects directly to the lower lift arms leaving open access to the tractor’s PTO. The system also allows easy adjustment for various widths of connection pens on different implements. The one downside to Pat’s system is you have to dismount your tractor to connect the top arm of the 3 point.

I think I would have to dismount to connect the PTO on all of them that I ever met, unless I could figure Inspector Gadget arms 😉. I connect the top link after I set the PTO. It’s the same dismount…I flip the pats tabs on the arms at that time too. Even with my QH on the other machine still have to get off to flip the levers and the set the PTO shaft. I think Pats is more more flexible, so far with limited use I wish I had Pats on the larger machine as well. The top link is another step, but if it lines up easier to me it’s quicker…and sliding the pin isn’t worth arguing about…at least not to me.
