Muffler

Looking for recommendations on a muffler. I wouldn’t mind something low profile that runs horizontal to the engine, but I’m not sure if the heat coming off the muffler will affect anything on the engine since it’s so close to it.
Other option is a straight pipe going vertical into the air?
engine is a Isuzu 4cyl, 2.8l

Well on my tractor the muffler is horizontal pointing forward, exhaust comes out inches from the radiator.
Seems factory.
No apparent issues, most of the exhaust ends up in your face.

The issues with a pipe pointing straight up is tree limbs etc. tearing it off, plus water intrusion.

You don't list a tractor model and I know nothing about Isuzu engines.
When I need a muffler for something I find about the right size at Tractor Supply and wait for it to be put on clearance.
