Apologies, this is an issue with a non-Kubota deck; but the only reason I end up posting is that my BX2200 is out of action for a gearbox repair on the RCK54 deck, so I feel semi-justified.. I resorted to mowing the paddock with a vintage Massey-Ferguson 30-15 (belonged to my dad, stored for 30 yrs) which was doing fine until the deck drive belt slipped off. On examination there is a huge amount of slack in the belt, as if the tensioner arrangement has failed.
I dropped the deck - approx 42", no manufacturer plate - but can't understand what has happened; the belt tensioner sheave is mounted on a swivelling arm, as usual. To apply belt tension the sheave must be pulled towards the 8 o'clock direction in these pictures yet the only spring attached to the arm is pulling it in the 12 o'clock direction. The spring is wrapped rather crudely around the black plastic air ducting at the front end of the deck on which there are some wear marks but it does not look as if the mounting has moved.
I can't find a manual for this vintage MF tractor or deck; also did not find any stray springs in the grass where I suddenly lost drive to the deck. Can anyone explain what's missing and/or how to fix?
