How do I get the blades off of a rc44442 mower deck? I tried taking off the plate on the top of the deck and putting a wrench on the bolt there but it did not work. Any advice? I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

You need to remove most blades from the underneath of the mower deck.

Use a block of wood ( chunk on 2 x 4) to prevent a blade from moving while you unscrew to bolt or nut holding it on.

Take more care providing the mower deck model identification as rc4442 is not anything recognizable to me.

What model of tractor is it on.

I sent you my email address in a private message because you cannot yet post photos on the forum.

Email me a couple of photos of the underside of your mower deck.

The correct blades should not be able to hit each other.

Did the old blade make contact with each other?

Where did you get the new blades?

Why the spindles are offset so the blade cut overlaps but the blades never touch. if they are touching you have the wrong blades.

I always loosen my blade nuts with an air impact wrench, much less grief.

I did that on my Betsco Finish mower and twisted the bolt head off the shank. (And it was grade 8.8 too!)

14mm X 2.0 Left-Hand bolts are not common to find.

Normally if you pay attention to the direction the blade rotates will tell you whether the bolts are right hand or left hand. The bolts on all I have seen will tighten if the blade slips and not loosen.

That’s what I THOUGHT also! But the blades rotate counter-clockwise (when viewed from beneath) which should have called for right-hand threads.

I will say, I use my IR Thundergun (1500 lb ft torque) on not only my 60" zero turn, but my wife's as well and never had issue one with snapping a bolt.

On my Landpride bat wing I use an IR 3/4: drive impact (2500 lb ft torque). never an issue either.

Fastenal wanted $11 EACH and would only order bags of ONE HUNDRED!

I found them on Amazon, a pair for $17. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07KCC1VNM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Meanwhile, Betsco fired their incompetent parts guy Jason (Who on three occasions promised, but failed to send parts I’d paid for on a different matter) and their new parts guy “Rocky” immediately sent me a pkg of 3 bolts, two new belts, a new blade, and a new spindle all FREE/Warranty even tho’ I’ve owned this thing for over a year, and did it with 2-day shipping all paid for by Betsco.

The product might be made in china... but Betsco in Oregon is all-American employees.
