NC Senate leaders strike controversial 'right to repair' from 2022 Farm Act

Dealers and manufacturers have lobbied heavily against the "right to repair" so they can make their money. Claim its a safety issue or that folks will use their software to illegally modify their tractors.

Better to stick to pre emission/no computer machinery…. It’s complete BS what they are doing .

That's what happens when you elect shady used car salepersons and shysters to lead your country.

Democracy is broken. I'd like to see it go back to the way the Greeks originally did it, more like jury duty. I'd add the following caviats:

1. You are elected by random draw selected from a pool of eligible citizens
2. You must and can only serve 1 term and you get paid well for it
3. You must NOT have a criminal conviction, have NOT been personally bankrupt or in charge of a business that has gone bankrupt
4. You need a minimum IQ to fulfill the role

The average citizen can't do a worse job than an "elected" official. The above 4 rules would eliminate half of our current politicians.

Think of all the money wasted on campaigns, party politics, and election crap. In the end it becomes a popularity contest based on photo ops and twitter feeds instead of getting things done. When you elect someone that is something to everyone and nothing to no one, then you end up with the sleaziest used car salepersons in charge.

We are having a provincial election June 2nd here in Ontario. I just saw a commercial by the Conservative party saying "Don't elect Liberals, they are the ones that privatized Ontario Hydro leading to an increase in your electricity prices." WTF. It was the Conservatives leader Mike Harris that started the privatization process of Ontario Hydro and the Liberals completed the transaction. Just a bunch of lying POS. All parties.

You can get the software. Pay the annual licensing fees, take the course to learn said software and go on your way.

There is also aftermarket software out there as well. Pay the annual licensing fees and go on your way.

Most repairs don't require a computer since a fault code will reset once the fault is fixed. If you have the code, you can figure it out.

Your unit will run by just swapping out an injector. The issue is without the software, you don't have the calibration info that is uploaded with the serial number. So it won't pass tier 4 emissions. Same for the EGR valve, and turbo actuators. But they can be swapped without a calibration as well.

How often do you really need to replace an injector though??? EGR valve???? Your turbo??

If you need to swap out an ECM, you can do what I do. Give the dealer the serial number for the unit, pay the fee to have it programmed, and have it shipped to you already programmed. The $200 fee for programming is a heck of a lot cheaper then the annual licensing fees for the sofware.

This goes the same for your vehicle. Do you have the software for your vehicles???

Or do you just use an OBDII reader to see what code it's throwing??

MOST codes are 'vague', code xnnnn COULD be this,that, something else. What SHOULD happen is that code xnnnn IS this specific sensor.

Codes clear immediately once the fault is fixed. There are a few minor exceptions to this.

If your engine won't stay running long enough for a code to clear, then you should probably take it to the dealer. You got other issues besides a faulty sensor. 😉😉😉
