I'm new to OTT and have looked around some but haven't found any posting of a mid mount grader blade build. I do a lot of work on our 1/2 mi long dirt road and want something better than the 4ft DR grader. Anyone willing to share build specs or pictures if they exist?

You might want to take a look at a box blade its amazing how much and what you can do with a 48 inch box

Thanks skeets. Tried box blade results were only fair. Have seen videos of tractors smaller than BX 23 with mid mount blades seem to have good results.

I'd hate to be going back and forth between the MMM and a mid mount blade, after about the 4th changeover I'd be looking for something else. I use a heavy duty rear blade that has a gauge wheel well behind it, that works like a grader. It does a marvelous job!
Servis (Rhino) and Woods both sell them, and a few of us have made them. They work well, and are easy to change out!

davcog,, I did build one for my bx. Very happy with it, although it will not dig up hard dirt, it is excellent for keeping the road smooth. It tilts left and right so I can move the gravel back into the ruts or with the tips on the blade, I can move gravel from one place to another. It uses the same hardware that raises and lowers the mmm. It's been on my list of things to do for a year, take pictures and post. I'm retired but I still work 14 hours a day.

" I still work 14 hours a day." That would explain the 3:28 am post. Looking forward to the pictures.:)

Ok, I got the pictures, now see if I can load them. All this is hanging from the mmm lift assy. The front hooks up just like the mmm. The back of the grader frame hooks up to the lift arms where the mmm goes. The blade is raised and lowered by the 3ph, just like the mmm. The one problem with this is, the blade can't be tilted. Notice on both ends , there is a long bolt and a large round weight with a hole in it. This slides over the bolt and adds weight to the blade. If I want one side to go deeper, I put both weights on the same side. The blade can be angled to either side or set 90 degrees to the front. The tips (wings) can be easily removed.

Very cool idea. Have you noticed any fatigue on the MMM arms?

No fatigue on the hookups. Since there is not much weight to hold the blade down, there is not a tremendous amount of force put on the front arms. They are 1/2 inch thick anyway. I have plans to make the blade electric up and down with force. By force, I mean being able to push down on the blade to make it dig into dirt or gravel. I mainly use it to keep the gravel smooth, it does a good job.

After having one on my older garden tractor for years, it's proven nothing beats the mid-mount grader blade for driveway maintenance. 40 years ago, when tractors where made to be universally useful, they came with many more attachment options than they do today, true grader blades among them.

That said, the one "downfall" of the old tractor's grader blade was it's lack of down force, usually overcome by simply standing on the blade. I've been working on a mid-mount grade blade for my BX for a year now, but it's severe lack of capabilities, clearances and universal mountings is making the job difficult. Standing on the blade simply isn't the easy option of years gone by.

Almost makes me think I could whip up something like you have to use until the powered blade is complete.
