I am glad to hear you are able to be doing physical activity and using your tractor again!

Congratulations on your recovery.
Thanks.

Thats what the cryptic milkshake comment was about. I have not been allowed any food or drink by mouth since the surgery on 12/18. All my nutrition for the last 6 months has been "formula" pumped into an intestinal feeding tube. That tube comes out tomorrow and we will be stopping for a milkshake as soon as we depart the hospital. Probably more than one 😀

I lost the fuel cap on my L3901 - dont ask.

After covering the filler with some aluminum foil i called 3 different local dealers looking for one. Nobody had one in stock and the cheapest price was $4 more than Messicks. Messicks shows 10 in stock, shippimg is $16, and Fedex will have it on my doorstep arkund noon tomorrow.

And in case you are wondering that senior moment and rediculously overpriced plastic cap just cost me $66 :devilish:

Dan
I drove over the MX fuel cap last week when I put it on the front tire and forgot it was there when I moved the tractor to the other fuel storage tank since the first one was empty. The local dealer has them in stock and my price was $27.53.

Yesterday morning I was assembling this new ham antenna from Mosley ...
Now this looks like a fine piece of equipment. Which bands does it cover? How will you mount it?

Sorry, do not want to mess up Dans fuel cap thread, maybe we can start another.

No worry about the thread. It was just a vent 😀

Dan
Just checked the price of my fuel cap (vented). It is $28.49 from Messicks.

I wonder what the difference to yours is. There cannot be that many different fuel caps, fuel nozzles are pretty much all the same size.

Kubota seemes to have avery large number. The L01/L02 caps seem to be specific to those models.

Maybe that is influenced by marketing. They know what people are losing and want to make it difficult for third party suppliers to offer replacements and hence keep Kubota profit margins high. Engineers would have simply used one cap for all tractors. No point reinventing the wheel :giggle:

Perhaps it's the fancy white lettering and icon on the fuel cap that doubles the cost. My MX and M fuel caps have no such embellishments. I guess Kubota figures that some owners need to be told what's under the cap, and what needs to go in the tank that the cap covers. 😂 The MX and M fuel caps are close in price. The part cost for something like the MX cap from a single cavity mold is maybe $1, and from a multi-cavity mold maybe $0.50.

Maybe Kubota needs to do what I am going to do as soon as I get the replacement cap.

Put a tether on it!!

Well Dan since fuel caps also like to vent, that seems completely appropriate! On a serious note, glad to hear that your recovery is going well!!!

The best way to find your old cap is by doing these 2 things.

1: Buy a new cap.
2: Stop looking for the old one.

After doing these 2 things you will find your old cap. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
Or ask my wife where it is.

She would walk right over to it, pick it up, and say "Found it!" (in that annoying "smart ass voice" too)

Has happened, hundreds thousands of times......

When I was at the local Kubota dealership picking up the new cap, the parts guys told me that they keep boxes and boxes of caps on hand for the SVL track loader models. They sell them like hot cakes because owners lose them like .... well, I don't know what like ... but lose them they do.

But I agree, a tether would work. I usually get into trouble or screw up when the routine changes. Typically I pull up next to one of the fuel tanks and pump fuel, but this was the first time that I had to move between tanks while filling up the MX. It was enough to kick me into a parallel universe in which I'm a complete idiot.

100%, it is the fancy lettering on gloss black background that drives the price up. Very posh! Mine is the plain middle one. Of course I have to remember myself what fuel to fill in, my Diesel tractor won't tell me :giggle:

p.s.: would not surprise me if all caps had the same thread.

That actually works. Women have better eye sight.

We were driving down a hill at over 50 miles an hour and my wife says: "there was money on the road". "Yeah, sure, my ear there was" I replied. A medium size discussion erupted; at some stage I had enough and turned around and drove back. And guess what? A 2 Euro coin lying on the road ...

Hugo,

I sent you a message about the antenna via the forum so as not to highjack Dan's thread. We wouldn't want him to blow his new fuel cap off while venting 🤣

And on topic, I place the fuel cap when filling my Kubota F2690 in the handy open compartment by the cup holder which holds it in place.

I used to place the fuel cap for my Deere 955 in the seat while I was filling but after it rolled out of the seat, bounced off the mower deck, and ended up in an ant bed I put it in the recess around the underhood fuel tank filler until I am done filling. When the 955 was 3 years old, I started mowing and it immediately started losing power as soon as I engaged the PTO. A mud dauber had built its nest around the fuel cap vent. I don't know whether it loved the smell of diesel and wanted to be near it or decided to block the vent so that it wouldn't have a diesel aroma around its home.
