Hello,
I'm looking at buying a Kubota M9540, and noticed it appeared to have a fine splined PTO shaft. Must be 1000 RPM PTO. I didn't notice a snap ring to switch the shaft around to make it 540 RPM. All the reference online states "1000 RPM PTO Optional" for the 9540. What is involved in making it 540 RPM and is it expensive?
Thanks for any info.....

If you're buying it from a dealer I would get them to throw in the 540 shaft as part of the deal. If private owned they should have the 540 shaft. Don't hurt to ask anyway.

Thanks! I found that awesome post by Richard. It swayed me away from that tractor, plus the dealer's "don't give a s*** attitude." I went shopping around and found a real nice M9000 for less money. I didn't know a M9000 could be found with Hydraulic Shuttle. I'm really happy with my new tractor. Thanks again!

I didn't either nor that you could get it in the 12/12. I "think" the M40 Series came about as a result of emissions controls with a bigger engine and turbo, but don't know that much about them.
