M7060 code 12

I'm new to the group and have searched for the above problem and found one link that doesn't answer my question.

Code 12 showed up while working a couple weeks ago.

It appears to be related to the 4WD solenoid or wiring.

I can't find the wiring and solenoid, I have a cab and what directions I've found point to the left side of the tractor just forward of the axle, but I can't see anything there.

Ideas?

That appears to be the PTO valve...not 4WD....Although it does look like the connector has pins for both...I'm just no sure where this valve is located...I'm trying to find it.

I did find the download for the manual...thank you.

@Bee-Positive showed the Solenoid Valve Assembly which houses among other things the 4WD solenoid valve. It's located on the left side of the tractor inside the rear wheel well.

You might even need to remove the fuel tank to get to it. It's buried for sure and won't be a fun job.

I think I found it...IF I could get the connector off, I may be able to ring out the wires, but it is in a really nasty spot...

I think you're right regarding probably having to remove the fuel tank.

Page 2-M20 of the WSM also has a good diagram of how it works.

I found the electrical schematic and since the connector is such a pain to get to, I think I'll initially trouble shoot it from the electric 4WD SW.

This, of course, means nothing if there is a connector problem etc, but I can at least confirm that it's getting the bus voltage to the wire and I there is 10-12 ohms to ground, the coil should be good...

Hope I don't have to pull the fuel tank.

As a wise man once told me, this problem, when solved, will be simple.

I took a look at my M6060 yesterday, and if I ever had to get to the solenoid valve assembly I'd need to remove the left rear wheel, fuel tank and probably the step too. Access is near impossible otherwise.

I think part of the solution needs to be resigning oneself to certain aspects of the job. I've often found that it's those times when I try to cut corners that the frustration sets in and the job typically takes so much longer. Ultimately we often end up doing it the right way but only after trying to do it by taking shortcuts that rarely turn out to be time savers.

I have Rim Guard and three sets of wheel weights on each rear wheel so it's no fun getting the wheel off. Removing the fuel tank doesn't look too bad, and doing it when the tank is close to empty would be the smart move, unless you want to drain the tank.

I agree completely.

I tried to troubleshoot it as much as I could from the switch. It is powered and shows bus voltage and the SW works and has a good ground.

The odd thing is that the resistance to the coil is about 400 ohms...so I don't yet know why the resistance is high.

I haven't got to the plug with four conductors...I expect the next thing is to pull the wheel and tank...I just don't have time to do it right now and I can get stuff done in 2WD....

I'm probably stating the obvious, but it's got to be a bad wire, connection, or bad solenoid. I'm not up for spending the $800 bucks or whatever on the solenoid yet.

Always something.
