Need a muffler or my M6800. Called dealer and the price started out at $471.00. By the time the number kept getting superceded it changed to a heart stopping $1,326.00. For a lousy muffler. Granted it is kinda funky in design but still that kind of money is unreasonable IMO. If anyone on here happens to locate one the part # is H3A10-12110. The engine exhaust manifold outlet does not line up with the hole in the hood, there is an offset. I may look for a small vertical muffler and have something fabricated up where it meets the 4 bolt flange on the exhaust manifold. Any suggestions are very much appreciated. Ed

Need a muffler or my M6800.
My L3450 came with an undermount muffler, trying to go back to the stock overhead pipe was the same way, way too expensive.
It's easy to fab up a couple of bends of pipe then add a muffler above the hood, use the flange off the old muffler if you have it.

Yup just what I was thinking. How do you support a muffler so there is not much stress on the horizontal part & flange ?

Looks like you can unbolt the exhaust flange and rotate it 90 degrees.
It may line up with the exit hole, or a custom pipe with a bend can be made...

Muffler is then eliminated...

A glass pack can then be put on the exhaust stack...

A little high heat paint, presto...

Wow - there's a blast from the past.....

Got my first ticket for a set of Cherry Bomb header mufflers on a '67 Caprice with 327...

I just put them on brand new, VERY RED, and "Off Road and Track Use Only" Stickers hadn't even burned off yet! :p

I just used a simple generic muffler, as it was very light weight.

To support the pipe and the muffler I used a simple mount on the pipe, because there is no motor mount, anything you mount can be solid.
