Greetings everyone,

New Kubota owner here, and would greatly appreciate any guidance you might have.

My M62 is currently in my field, not moving. With my PTO rotary cutter, I was clearing a brushy area with around up to 1" thickness. After about 2 hours of clearing, the Engine Error light came on and the power of the engine and PTO started to downshift. This, of course, freaked me out, and was somewhat panicked, so I immediately turned off the engine. In turning off the tractor so quickly, I cannot recall the engine code number.

I can turn the key to the ON position and navigate the IntelliPanel. I was hoping to find the Engine Error code, but I'm failing to find what code was thrown.

I've checked the fluids, I did top off the trans hydraulic fluid with a few quarts. All other fluids are normal. I've looked under the engine to see if any wires snagged, all appears fine.

I did notice a 1" bush stick wedged in the rotary cutter. I've yet to successfully remove it. I'm suspecting this might have caused or started the power downshift.

The PTO is disengaged, in neutral and when turning over the key to start, I hear a single "click". That's it.

I would be grateful for any suggestions.

If the single click is coming from the starter, I'd first check the battery voltage, battery connections, ground to frame connection and positive to starter connection. Good luck

You can check this way. Turn the headlights on so that you can see where they are shining. A tree, maybe have a helper watch the headlights. Turn the key to "start". If the headlights go out, you either have a loose battery cable, bad ground, or a bad battery. If they don't dim or go out, it'll be elsewhere. Maybe a starter though kubota's starters are pretty robust.

turn the key to start. Watch the hourmeter. Does it say "OPC" in the meter? IF yes, you have a switch failing, something is turned on, or wiring issue. If no, is there any other code showing as you are holding the key to start? Sometimes it'll pop a code in the meter as you're trying to start. Just depends on the DTC and it's hierarchy. Some codes are more important than others.

On M62, does it have a swivel seat? I think they do (TLB's usually do--but I'm not 100% familiar with M62). if so, look at the seat swivel, I think there's a safety switch on the swivel itself so that it won't start if it's between forward facing and rearward facing positions. Seems like I remember dealing with that before on another tractor, I just don't remember if it was an L45, L48, etc?

Well, it turns out that both you, Motion and lugbolt were correct. I opened the battery box and the negative terminal was completely disconnected. Reconnected the terminal, cinched it with a socket wrench, and it fired right back up. I very much appreciate your help!

Thanks for posting the final chapter. With the newest engines, old people like me never expect a simple cause.
