When I depress the clutch pedal on my M6040, it does not stop the tractor. I have to bump the shuttle shift in and out of gear in order to stop the tractor. Any ideas of what may be going on? It was working fine two days ago and now this. Hopefully this doesn't mean I have to split the casing.

You need to read this paragraph from the WSM:

The hydraulic shuttle clutch, which switches forward and reverse running, function as the traveling clutch. When
the clutch pedal (2) is depressed, the clutch spool of shuttle valve (8) moves via the clutch cable (9).
As for the oil, it does not flow to both the forward side (5) and reverse side (6) of the clutch pack, the clutch pack
enters the state of “Disengaged” and power is not transmitted.

I interpret this English to say that the shuttle clutches and the foot pedal traveling clutch are one and the same.

I have attached several WSM pages. Hope that an adjustment is all that is needed because the shuttle shift works properly.

Does your M6040 have hyd or sync shuttle? If hyd shuttle Dave is correct If sync shuttle then clutch linkage or stuck clutch /pressure plate is the problem or possibly failed pilot brg

You will need to give the exact model to get a better answer as there is several sub models with different options.

If you don't know the submodel, just post your serial # and we can tell you the model. ;)

It's not the linkage. Played with that already. Could be the clutch plate. Suggestions on it? I've read just driving it and bumping it around works sometime, especially over semi rough terrain.

You really need to answer the "Exact model" question, or you could be looking for parts that don't exist like a Pilot bearing.
