This tractor has been well used before I got it, but I need to keep it going and safe. The bucket/forks uncurl in just a few minutes. I have no leaking hoses. How do I tell if it's in the control lever assembly or a cylinder or something else? If it's a cylinder how do I tell if it's left or right?
When I'm hand loading into the bucket as in picking up limbs and moss after a storm it will dump itself as I load. The weight in the bucket doesn't seem to matter how fast it dumps?

It has either a bad valve seat or cartridge in the loader valve or a bit of dirt adhered to the seat in that particular circuit. My M9 cab loader has leaked down since I bought it in 2004, but not fast enough to be a concern and it hasn't gotten worse (or better) since then. My M9 open station remains rock solid all the time and it has 2 times the meter hours as the cab unit.

In your case, I'd say renewal of that particular circuit cartridge is in order. me, I can live with it.

It's one or both of your bucket cylinders leaking past the piston seals. To verify, roll the bucket back and unplug the bucket cylinder hose couplers and raise the loader up off the ground a couple of feet.
(This test only works on cylinders that gravity will extend, won't work on cylinders that retract.)
If the bucket still drifts down, it leaking around the piston.
To determine which cylinder is leaking, you have to block both ports on one cylinder and loop ports on the other or leave the hoses off it.
If the seals have failed in one cylinder, the other probably not far behind and one larger loader, I sometimes find both cylinders leaking.

Thank you for the replies. I've been moving and had to leave the tractor be a little while. Then a truck transmission. I'll get back to it soon and follow up. Thanks again.
