I just came across a very lightly used blow snower, and is off a "B" and the price is about 2/3 of new and its 3 years old.
Now what I am asking, and before I go diggin up any mason jars out behind the barn.
I know we have some very smart people in here, and some with some very sophisticated backgrounds.
Anyone have any idea WHAT may lie in store this winter. Yeah I know I looked at all those places first. And all I have come away with is , it might snow it might rain it might get cold. I would hate to spend shekels and have it sitting in the garage,, ya know what I mean ?

It's really simple. If you buy it, you won't get snow. If you don't buy it, you'll be buried this winter.

Where I live they cannot predict the weather for 24 hours. And you would like a forecast for 6 months? 🤪

Skeets - the blower is one thing, but it’s a boat anchor unless you have the front hitch and drive shaft to go with it….

Be careful with the hitches. They can be very tractor model-specific.

Hell, years ago we were forecast for a foot overnight. Blew 6” off before bed.

0430 I had 36” on the ground…..only 30” where I blew it off the night before……❄😳

Look at all of the forecasts and the almanac. Then, go outside and look up. When you look up, you'll see if it is snowing or not. ;)

Three winters ago we had the third snowiest winter on record going back 140 years. I had enough of using my ATV w/plow so I bought my tractor, plow, and blower from an auction later that year. The last two winters were significantly below average snowfall, didn't use the tractor at all.

In summary- whatever you plan for, the weather will do the opposite.

The snowblower is same as rototiller. They're not use often BUT when you do, they're the GREATEST implement you ever bought !!!
I used my riding snowblower 3x last year( maybe 3 hours), the tiller once( for an hour).

As for the weather...nobody can accurately say what WILL happen, so that's NOT a factor in deciding.

Best to consider if YOU like manually shovelling heavy wet snow at your age ??

This is looking over the hood of the Trailblazer this past Tuesday morning. Right up until the deluge began, the "meaty urologist" was forecasting showers. Don't believe anything they tell you.

"Yinz" usually get more Winter in your end of the Commonwealth. Here in Dutchland the snow ranges from nearly nothing to a rare blizzard.

Skeets, based on sage Speed25’s words of wisdom, and since we live in the same general area, please buy the snow blower!

HAH! you're asking the wrong question for me to answer I live in Northern Michigan and the old saying still goes, If you don't like the weather, wait five minutes and it will change. My thinking goes along with Murphy's law. If you don't have one, you'll greatly regret it. If I ever did decide to move out of Michigan I would load the blower on my trailer and head south. The first person who asked, "what's that thing", there is where I'm gonna stay. 😜🤣

Good day.

Couple questions:

1. What is you current snow removal equipment or plan? (Doing yourself with Shovel or blade or make one of the spousal unit(s)😉 do it or pay neighbor kid or what?)

2. Whatever number one is, has that stopped working? Do you have access to reliable service? Or do you really want to do yourself?

I am a DIYr, except our place up north, I have to pay when I am not there. I guess if doing yourself, if you can pick something up at significant savings and would use if weather conditions are right, that’s a safe bet IMO (probably good insurance too). But if you rather pay someone and not do it at all, maybe not make financial sense. (I feel this way with most implements…if you want to DIY, get it…if you want to minimize the jars you have to dig up, pay the someone when it’s needed IMO).

I suspect a blower is similar to most of my attachments where it’s something to walk around / trip over majority (takes up space in the barn) of the year, but sure nice to have when you need it….its good at one thing and probably wouldn’t regret when using it.

I’ve been delaying the purchase of one myself (looking for bargain - buffalo has not pooped yet😉). At my residence, I normally don’t suffer low traction enough to go to trouble to buy chains or studs (but every year I do wish I bought studs and installed🙄 when we have some ice).

I think if I was to a point were traction was not enough, that’s probably the metric or criteria to push me over the edge to change to a blower on the B. (Currently use the ATVw/ blade or if it no start I light a cigar and go make a mess with the bucket on the B).

I use my bucket on a weekly basis year round so I really don’t want to add a front blower in it…so I’d rather use atv than all backing up with a rear blower on tractor. JMO.

if you have a lot of jars to dig up, make it a two fer, and tack on a backhoe for the diggin’😉

if still not sure about the weather, for what it’s worth, I only take long term weather pattern advice from politicians, activist news reporters, hollyweird celebrities, and professional athletes. 😂

My Grandad said (among a lot of other things):

Whether it's cold
Or whether it's hot
We're bound to have weather
Whether or not

This is the critical information, probably based on actual life experience!!

Just buy it, will ya?

Even if you use it only once in the next winter for 1" of snow you will love it !

Btw.: not sure if you know, but there will be more winters after the next one and a snow blower typically last longer than one winter ;)
