I HAVE 3EACH. 2 ZD28 AND ONE ZD25 AND THEY ALL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM.
I GUESS THE SAFETY SWITCHES HAVE CORRODED CONTACTS AND ARE NOT ALLOWING CURRENT TO GET TO THE SOLENOID TO CRANK THE ENGINE AND SOMETIMES WHEN IT DOES CRANK THEY WILL SHUT OFF AFTER THE 3 SECOND BUILT IN SAFETY
QUESTION, HOW DO I FIND ALL THESE SWITCHES TO TRY TO CLEAN THEM? I TOOK ONE'S KEY SWITCH OUT AND THE WIRES ARE SEALED TO THE BOTTOM OF IT SO, NO CLEANING THERE?

Most every switch made for consumer / light industrial has been "sealed / one piece" for 30 years or more. No cleaning most of them reliably. Yes, some can be disassembled, but once the switch contacts corrode, that means the thin silver plating is worn off anyways, and cleaning is at best a short term fix as there is no plating left to stop the corrosion from reoccurring quite quickly.

Just replace the defective switches. If you keep them out of the rain they will last longer.

I have an intermittent starting problem also on my L2800 - I also suspect the Safety Switches. My plan is to clean the terminals and then apply some dielectric grease to help slow/eliminate the corrosion problem. My biggest problem is getting the time to do it.
