What is the function of the pair or bars mounted on pins across the upper loader towers? It looks like the pin brackets are bent. And the loader is restricted at its max vertical position by the bars. They also block the hood from opening.

Did you buy a tractor ? L235DT or L 275DT. The bars are for when you remove the loader. You should have a pocket on each side of the bucket fo them to slid into.

Some people use a bar there to pull themselves up instead of using the steering wheel

Ya, I found a L235. 450hrs. Thanks.
So the bars are for holding the loader together, when off the tractor?
It looks like the brackets are bent. Should they be vertical, and the pins facing back?

They do more than hold the FEL together when off the tractor and assist getting off the seat.
They brace the booms at their aft ends and prevent the towers from fracturing the tractor-frame due to extended loads.
It appears the bracket on the left is the one bent toward the rear, likely by impact. With your booms fully raised the right one still clears the boom is what gives me that opinion. (but if you wanted the right one to match the left, a piece of 2x4 placed between the rt bracket and the boom…then raise the boom…. ;) (an object on the left may be what caused it to be bent up)
