Evening all! I have a bx23mlb so basically a bx23d that in the last two weeks has begun leaking oil or coolant. In the attached photo you can see it is wet around the pulley that is seated behind the radiator. I took the radiator out last week and changed the fluid for what to my knowledge was the first time. I could not see anything that looked notably damaged. With it being the original coolant that is why I’m unsure if it’s oil or coolant since the coolant was very dark prior to draining. There is a slow drip when the tractor is off right behind the oil pan where there is a 45 degree ramp on the bottom of the frame. Think it is the water pump but not a hundred percent sure. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

It looks like a coolant leak from the weep hole behind the pulley.
Before you do any work on it, wash that nasty, filthy engine off.

Would that indicate that the water pump seal has failed and the water pump must be replaced? I assume it is similar to a car water pump but just want to be sure.)

My local auto parts store “rents” cooling system testers….

Maybe you could rent one, and if it has the correct adaptors, you might be able to pressurize it in order to test it?

For a few bucks, buying and putting “dye” in the oil then looking with a “black light flashlight” will help find it, if its oil related.

However as previously suggested, cleaning it first is always “best practice”….

……….The parts cannon can get mighty expensive to start firing off……(ask me how I know ;))
