I am replacing the seals in the boom cylinder. My plan was to remove the cylinder with the front-end loader attached however I could not access one of the bolts holding the cylinder in place. So, I removed the front-end loader from my b-2400 tractor. In my rush to remove the loader from the tractor I did not mark the loader's 4 hoses so that I could connect them to correct connectors on the tractor - dumb. I understand from reading other posts that incorrectly connecting them will result in issues. Any advice as to which hose goes where on the control valve? Thanks

Connecting them incorrectly leads only to no function. Consult the owners manual for documentation. Absent that you just follow the lines.

The LA351 manual does not address the issue. Maybe there is a WSM for the loader. There are 4 lines -so that means 16 different configurations. Good to know that no damage will occur while I figure it out. Ordered various colored zip ties so it wouldn't happen again. Thank you.

There are markings on the valve that will help you out. I am not sure why there are four hoses instead of the normal (to me) three hoses to the valve.

The block on the side of the tractor may be covered in the operation manual.

Take pictures of the valve and where the hoses connect to the tractor and post them and it may be easier to resolve your issue.

It does have a WSM for the LA351 on Manualslib.com that shows the CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY and a schematic of the hydraulic system that appears to answer my question. As TheOldHokie said, I should be able to "just follow the lines". Thanks.

First of all you could do this by inspection using nothing more than your eyeballs and a basic understanding of how a double acting hydraulic cylinder works

But if not you dont have 16 combinations to try.

  1. Locate the hose going to the base of the right most lift cylinder. Plug it into either of thevleft most ports on the valve.
  2. Now one at time connect each remaning hose to the other left side port and try to raise/lower the boom. As soon as you get one that works STOP. You have identified the boom connections. Go to step (3).
  3. If the boom is going in the right direction go to step (4). If it is going in reverse swap those two hoses and then go to step (4).
  4. You now have two hoses and two ports left. Hook them up in any order and test the bucket. If it is moving in the right direction STOP - you are done. If the bucket moves in reverse swap those two hoses and STOP - you are done.
Estimated time to complete less than 5 minutes and a max of 7 possibilities to try..
