I’ve basically got a parts l3901 tractor with loader (needs complete new engine only) and might be able to pick up a l3901 tractor only for a reasonable price. Does the standard tractor only l3901 come with everything I need to bolt on the loader and hook up the hydraulics or will I be looking at purchasing more parts?
Kubota wants $11k for new motor, salvage yard has one for $6k that “runs”. Exploring options. Thanks.

I believe a new tractor comes with everything needed to connect an LA525 loader. If the one you're buying is salvage you should look it over carefully to see what's been removed (if anything). Look especially for the hydraulic hoses just to the right of the steering column. They should be color coded and have quick disconnects. I do hope the LA524 was just a typo. Any bolts and hardware you need should come with the loader package. The hoses on the tractor may also come with the loader package.

I understood it as, he has a 3901 with loader that needs an engine. If he buys a bare 3901 that runs, would the loader mount.

No there was LA524 loaders on Standard L's and all of them bolted up to the same tractor frame. Same as the LA463 for the Standard models before that, L3800, L3400, L2800. The LA463 was more heavy duty but cost more to make, the LA524 was a single support post. They all mount the same way...

I think the LA525 was done to fix a couple of weak points on the LA524...

If you have a complete loader on the roached L3901 r it should swap. You will need to take the hydraulic outlet block (item #60 in the parts diagram) off the side of the tractor along with the loader. You won't need the block-off plate that's currently on the replacement tractor so put it back on the donor tractor.
