At 800 hours, I'm due to check valve clearances. Opened the service manual and I can't get past step one. Where is the port to see the TDC mark? Is it buried behind the support post for the loader? If so, Which side? Hope I don't have to remove the post to access it.

If you can't get to the access port, you can set the valves without it.

Just turn the motor by hand and watch the valves, you will see them compress then decompress go past the point of decompresion, by about a 1/4 turn and the cam should be at it's lowest point, set the valve there, repeat for all the valves.
