On a question posted two days ago under the title of (Replacing damage Hydraulic Oil Cooler) Any unfortunate collateral damage was when examining the bad Oil cooler I noticed the upper pump fitting was stripped. I then examined the steel Hyd. line and sure enough the female nut fitting was stripped also. No Problem right just buy a new one for$$$. EXCEPT Kubota stopped making the part. I now am in a jam Two junk yards have no salvage parts and I am in central Missouri. I need a very reliable Steel hydraulic line prefab shop to make me one off the bad one plus Identify the female fitting size. I called a couple of Kubota dealers but to no avail. The Bolivar Quarrels shop parts Guy was very helpful and did recommend a couple of shops who might make the line for me. Springfield is 150 miles out. Does anyone know of a shop closer to Fulton , Mo. Also can you cut line and fit a rubber line in middle to be fitted on the new oil cooler? Pros CON My fear is once they cut the line I won't have a template using the old steel line which is 34 inches with some bends .

Any steel line can be replaced with a rubber hose of the correct pressure rating.

The metal lines work well on assembly lines and look much neater from a packaging perspective.

Replace the steel line completely with a hydraulic hose and then you will have the original to preserve.

Hydraulic components are not unique to Kubota. Kubota buys them from other suppliers and then gives the component their own part number.

Most hydraulic shops can make a hose with the necessary fittings if you can bring them the fittings the new hose needs to connect to. You don't need a shop which can do metal lines unless you are trying to do a restoration. Most people just want the machine to run again.

Good advice from Dave M7040 - a hose will work fine. Kubota uses British Standard Pipe Parallel (BSPP) thread style for many of the hydraulic piping connections on the chassis. These people are very helpful and can supply a new hose with necessary adapter fittings - at a decent price to boot.

edit: Best to take the tube to a hydraulics repair shop. The end at the pump is still ok, right? That end has a "banjo" fitting so it will be best to re-use it. The tube can likely be cut shorter and re-flared for a new flare-style coupling with new length of hose to the cooler.

Which line and fitting are you having a problem with?
Looks like the cooler lines are a simple flared compression fitting.

In the diagram tube 60 uses a banjo-type fitting at the pump end - which should be re-used if it's undamaged. The tube's flare-fitting end should be cut off and replaced with a new extension hose. See edited post above.

I have contacted a Hyd. Line shop. They will be doing as you both mention reusing banjo fitting and about 14 inches of metal line from there a new hose and fitting will be attached. The outside diameter of the hose is twice the size of the metal line and I will have to sleeve it with kevlar tubing to protect it from rubbing against the outside tractor fender paneling. Unless you all might have a better suggestion for preventing the vibration / rubbing. It is a tight fit there and i noticed some rubbing against the tube I took off.

Remember you don't have to follow the routing of the steel tube. If there is a path for the hose that is easier on the hose don't hesitate to go that way.
