Hi,

My L4310 has all of a sudden started having issues firing it's glow plugs. On a cold start the light doesn't come on at all, no click, no nothing. I know a lot of folks have issues with the plugs staying on or turning on randomly after the machine has been started but I'm not seeing that at all.

I have heard the relay click one or twice on a hot start but that it.

I'm wondering if it's not the controller but the relay. Does the relay control the light and the plugs? Admittedly I haven't done any trouble shooting, just haven't had time to pull the dash. I figured it could hurt to ask though...

Thanks,

K

Start by checking the temp sensor located on the thermostat housing for its ohm values at different temps.

It is the one component which provides critical info to the electronic brain, the GP controller.

See attached for ohm values at different temps.

The relay will be just an on off switch but all decisions reside within the controller. Your can look for identical relays on your machine and swap them to see if the problem resolves.

Thanks Dave. I suspect it's not the thermostat as no matter what I used to hear the relay click, even starting hot. I'm not getting any click at the moment.

Doesn't hurt to test though, better than throwing parts at the problem.

Thanks,

K
