Well Im the proud owner of a L3800 But would like to upgrade to a larger tractor with cab. My home only sits on 4 acres of flat pasture but I am surrounded by my fathers property of 43 acres that I take care of with the L3800. I use a Scag zero turn around my house but maintain the fields with the L3800 and a 5 foot rotary cutter.

I've been looking around for a Cab machine around 60hp to be able to add a pull type 12' batwing or a dual spindle 3 point unit. I even dare to say looked at a used green 4720 cab machine down the street at the Deere dealership. It was a nice machine with low hours but I don't see how some manufactures have a "higher" end machine that doesn't have the nice creature comforts like telescopic lift arm ends or telescoping stabilizers. I was also turned off with losing the SS qa front bucket.

Ive been by the Kubota dealership I got my L3800 from and he was saying at the least end of things I should go with a L4760 Cab machine. But would have to go bigger if I wanted the larger cutter. Ive been looking everywhere for a used M7040 or something similar but can seem to find too much. here s what I have found kinda local.

1. M7060 Cab 12x12 Trans but No loader, 1200 lbs in front weights 100hrs two rear remotes $32k for the tractor, $39k tractor and woods 3 point 8 foot bush hog.

2. M8540 Cab 12x12 Trans FEL, 2 rear remotes 1,500hrs $36,500

3. M6040 Cab 8x8 Trans single rear remote 300hrs $35,000

Ive looked around for Grand Ls but it seems there aren't to much used around me. Im also thinking the M series might be a better fit. Option 1 seems like a nice machine but has the new Tier 4 stuff but is a lot cheaper then retail but I would have to get a loader installed since a FEL is something I cant live without. What are everyone's thoughts.

When buying anything from trucks to tractors it's always been my train of thought if you don't get exactly what you want ( FL , color, HP, upgrades) it's not a good deal so stick to your guns and buy what you want and nothing less. Good luck on your hunt for a tractor.

We're in a similar boat, wanting to update the M7040 for a bit more horsepower, shopping around at the larger tractors.
