My L3800 HST will not crank or turn over. It has a new battery. It was used all day Saturday but would not crank on Sunday. A Kubota Mechanic said it sounds like the neutral switch is out. How difficult is this switch replacement?
Stick you head underneath the tractor at the HST pedal linkages and look for the switch and determine if it's something you can undo and replace.
Before replacing, I would also check all other safety switches for correct operation, PTO lever/switch/s, clutch switch (if it has one) etc. as well.
First thing to check is be sure the HST is centered in the neutral position. Your tractor will not start if it is not centered.
To start replacing parts because someone "thinks" a part may not work can get real frustration and expensive. Probably what the mechanic said and what you understood him to say was different. "A Kubota Mechanic said it sounds like the neutral switch is out."
What he was probably trying to relate to you was a safety switch is not in the neutral position. The switch is not bad and needing replaced.
